Fire Up Your Blogging Experience Thru Zemanta Plugin

Oooops! Please don't add up to my Subscribers, I'm Having too much to handle. Please do not Subscribe Here.

I’ve discovered a very cool Firefox plugin/add-on as I was stumbling through the internet. It is called Zemanta, which, as of now, supports three blogging platforms, wordpress, blogger and typepad (they are still working for other blogging platforms though).

So how does this cool plugin really works? Fellow bloggers who are using this plugin call it “Content Suggestion Engine For Bloggers” and basically, it really do that. Upon reaching your first 300 characters, Zemanta starts finding words in your composition and suggest links that you may consider linking in. That’s not the cool part of it though but these, on the same sidebar, after Zemanta update suggestions, you’ll find in the Gallery section some photos that you may consider embedding in your blog post. You can even get inspirations in writing your articles from those photos. But you see, that doesn’t end there. On the same sidebar again, below the Gallery is the Articles section. Articles appearing on that section are related to what you are composing, therefore, adding up to your inspiration, and eventually, helps you a lot in making very good articles. You can also use the links that it suggest as your tags, which I’m currently doing.

Zemanta enables itself automatically when you are in the Write Post Page of your blogging platform. The first thing that you will notice after installing the plugin is the small, orange-colored icon in your address bar (it is grey or almost invisible when your not in the write post page or when it is deactivated), that signal that the plugin is working properly. Also, you will notice that there is a new widget in the write post page right sidebar, that is the Zemanta widget, and it will start working after you have typed your first 300 characters, and will continuously update for every 300 character interval.

I’m using the latest release version of wordpress, and with this tool, I’m really getting pumped up, even though the character count lag sometimes :D . Another thing I really want to see in Zemanta is a word count tool, which will really make it an almost complete tool for money bloggers like me. :)

Free Website: Your Own .com Domain

I got a tip from a comment in one of my blogs that there is a website called hyperwebenable that offers a free domain registration and free webhosting services, so of course, what I did is I immediately signed up to avail of such service. Eventually, after a day or two, my application gets approved, they just asked me to change the domain name that I have requested because it is already taken. Honestly, my decision to continue to avail such service is still pending. :) Quite hesitant about it.

The catch is this, they will provide two banner ads that you are required to embed in your website and a text link ad at the bottom of your site. Alright! It’s not actually the banner ads and text link ads that lights up my hesitations, it’s actually the free service itself, the ownership of the domain name in particular. When availing their free service, you can get any domain name, unless it has been taken or unless it has your name in it, but the ownership remains to hyperwebenable. I will not waste my time in establishing the status of a domain name, which, in the first place is not mine. Other thing is that they require an average of 200 visitors per day, which is very difficult especially if you are a newbie like me. Another requirement is that you need to make a minimum of 15 posts per month. I have no problem with the latter one.

Although you have an option of registering your own domain and avail their free hosting service, why would you do that if there are free web hosts out there who offer free services without any catch? No banners and advertising. I’ll prefer that one instead.

However, for short term profit taking, I think I will consider availing such service. On the other hand, for new bloggers who does not have any budget to buy their own domain name, I think the service of hyperwebenable will do until you have saved enough money to buy your own domain name.
